Sir Syed's Last Message to Boys and Girls :
Oh My dear Children,when you will grow old,when you achieve the position of eminence. You would have forgotten me.You would have reached the heights,you would no doubt climb & scale the peaks which has never ever been imagined by your predecessors. But then you would not be aware of the facts that you have come out of an institution which was not given birth to by British Government or anybody else.. I and my friends and the entire community gave their blood to buildup an institution at a place which was in wilderness,a desert where not even a grass grew,we built-up class rooms,hostels,libraries,laboratories,playgrounds. You have reached a particular stage and remember one thing that when I undertook the task,there was criticism all around against me,abuses were hurled upon me,life had become so difficult for me that I aged before my age,I lost my hair,my eyesight,but not my vision. My Vision never dimmed,my determination never failed,I built this institution for you and I am sure,you will carry the light of this institution far and wide,darkness will disappear from all around. That is the time when my soul will rest in peace,that is when I will feel that I have achieved what I aspired for But,then there is nightmare also which gives me a terrible feeling of failure to see that some of you who take the advantage of education provided by Aligarh you have forsaken.You have become Selfish in yourself that you forgot that you owe any responsibility to your brothers,sisters and neighbors.You have forgotten the light that showed you the way which took you out of darkness is the very light you are extinguishing. Hold on for a minute,think back,what I have done.I would like you to keep up this light. I know how difficult it is to standup against selfish motivation.It is exactly the thing I have fought against and I want you to stand once again. Stand erect,be counted and that time I would like you to bow before Almighty Allah.Pray for my soul and pray for the success of the mission that I had undertaken.
